Party Political Puffin is primarily a YouTube channel.
The channel started as a response to the political climate that arose from the 2016, US general election.
The race was between Hillary Rodham Clinton and, remarkably, Donald John Trump.
The source of amusement and amazement wasn't so much, if at all, to do with the policies that were being asserted as the candidates positions but very much to do with what started as 'simple' 'falsehoods' being offered by Trump. Mendacity is a trait synonymous with politics. However, this was a level and shear volume that this author had never experienced before. At first, it was amusing listening to and watching ,Trump. Some of it was simply cringe inducing. It was almost like driving past a bad traffic accident on the other side of the road, impossible to take your eyes off.
Trump had been in office 24 hours when he sent Sean Spicer,
the 28th, White House Press Secretary, out to tell the world a demonstrably
false statement, that we had just seen the largest crowd for an inaugural
ceremony.
The lies have only increased dramatically and the cartoonish
behaviour of Trump has developed to the point that the US and the world have
endured not only the investigation in to Russian 'meddling', during the
election or 'declaration of war' as I think of it, but most recently his
impeachment for extorting the President of the Ukraine to attempt to get
opposition research on Joe Biden, his, at the time, according to the polling
data, most dangerous opponent for reelection.
As of 20th January, 2020, Trump has made 16,241 false or misleading claims.
Daniel Dale, the erstwhile Toronto Star Washington DC bureau chief, now CNN reporter was the first to track the lies Trump was telling. He had no idea he would still be dong this over three years after he started. As the general election looms, he may well find himself with another four years of this to look forward to.Thank you for reading, well, at all! Unfortunately for the internet and the wider world there is more of my poorly constructed, language strangling to come.
However, if you want to have a real laugh and can't wait until the next thrilling instalment of this tome then please head on over to the YouTube channel (http://bit.ly/32xuWxv). It would be great to see you there.
This blog is not just to direct you to the YouTube channel, although to be perfectly honest, that is the primary function. It is to give the channel a way to comment on stories that it is not possible, due to the pace of news cycles, that really shouldn't pass without comment.
So, to that end, I hope you will find value in the blog posts but in a different way from the videos.
Thanks.
